Technology in a Classroom
I plan on using technology to further enhance my students learning in my class and i will also use technology to help me coach. I consider myself knowledgable in many sports but there are some sports where i will need assistance on explaining them or demonstrating them. This is where technology will come in. Examples of different technologies would be showing my students a video on a certain skill so they get a better understanding of it. Another would be to videotape my players to show them how they are performing their skill and to correct them if they are doing it wrong and give them tips on how to improve them. They can also compare how they perform the skill to how the person in the video demonstration is performing it and compare them. Another technology i would incorporate into my lessons would be a heart rate monitor. I think that it is important for students and players to know their target heart range so they know if they are working too hard or if they are hardly working at all. Another technology i would like to incorporate would be the virtual golf swing. (If the budget allows it). This will help students develop a proper golf swing without having to go to a golf course. It would be perfect to use during the winter when outdoor activities are limited. I would try to use most of these technologies if my budget allows it and I believe that they can greatly benefit students when used properly. http://www.motioncoach.com/

Josh, I really like the idea of using technology as a coaching option. This is something I did not consider when thinking about using the use of technology, but it is becoming more and more important for athletes to use video feedback to increase their performance. At the same time I believe this can be crossed over into the classroom and students can use this feedback to improve themselves as well. I also like the idea of the virtual golf game, in the winter this could be a way of allowing students to improve their game while still in doors and warm, it also gives the teacher another option when considering their limited ideas of what activities that students can participate in while it is too cold to go outside.
