The learning responsibility is shared between the student, parent and teacher. When learning first begins, the student is young and has little responsibility in the learning process. I think at the beginning when a student starts school they are maybe 10% responsible for the learning process, the teacher and the parents would split the rest at about 45% each. As the student gets older their responsibility increases and the responsibility of the parents decreases. When the student reaches junior high age their responsibility is about 35%, the teachers is 40% and the parents is 25%. At this point the students should be able to actively study alone and be a successful learner with the help of the teacher. The role of the parents now is to support the student and help to encourage good study habits, etc. As the student continues to get older, the percent of their responsibility increases until college and grad school when their responsibility is around 85%, the teachers/professors is 10% and the parents is 5%.
