Revised teaching with technology statement

After revisiting my teaching with technology philosophy statement, my opinions on P.E. and technology has not changed. I still believe technology in the classroom can be a very useful resource when used correctly. One advantage of using technology is the ability to show students demonstrations that the teacher is incapable of doing themselves, so in this instance the teacher can show a video of a professional performing the demonstration. Another advantage in the demonstration aspect is that the video can be slowed down and shown from several different angles. I think the main way technology is incorporated into classrooms now is through presentation methods, for example PowerPoint. Power Point is used in almost all classes now as a way for teachers to present information and notes to the class so the students have an opportunity to see and hear the information being presented. A positive use of technology for P.E. classes today is many schools incorporating the use of walkie talkies for all P.E. teachers to carry around. Because P.E. is special in that when the weather is nice they can hold class out doors for students many of the times the teachers are all by themselves with thirty plus students out of ears reach from other teachers. So schools have now started having P.E. teachers carry walkie talkies around with them so if a student is injured or some sort of emergency happens where the teacher needs assistance they can easily radio into the building for assistance. These are just some of the many positives that I see with incorporating technology into teaching.

The thing I feel most strongly about is that the use of technology must be appropriate to what the students are learning and help to further their knowledge better than a teacher can do by themselves. In the future I imagine technology will continue to advance and the uses for it in the P.E. setting will advance with it.
