Philosophy Statement

After reading the philosophy statement that I made at the beginning of the semester, I have now realized that there are several other ways in which I believe technology could benefit a physical education classroom. In fact, in the beginning I wasn't on board for hardly any use of technology in the physical education classroom except for the video games and heart monitors of course. Now that semester is almost complete I've realzied that in almost no way could the use of technology hurt a physical education setting, in fact in most cases it could only make it better.

A computer program that could track student's progression in the classroom is something that I believe all physical education teachers should look in to. Not only is it going to benefit the teacher, but the students and their parents as well. A class web site is another tool that could be great too. A teacher could post articles, links, and videos to help further educate his or her students. You could post grades privately, or even produce practice exams that could be provided on the web site. There are unlimited options when thinking about creating a web site that could really benefit everybody. The use of video is also a great tool that is rarely used in physical education. Film your student's participating in a skill. It will help when giving appropriate feedback, and really gives students a chance to look at themselves and think, wow maybe my technique wasn't necessarily as good as I believed.

Technology is doing wonders for today's society. I feel dumb to believe that at one point I actually thought technology could hurt a physical education classroom. There is more to it then just heart rate monitors and dance dance revolution. Technology is taking us places that can only help students even more in classrooms, and that's including physical education as well.
