The next item I would buy would be 25 Omron HJ112 Multi-Function Pocket Pedometers. They cost 26 dollars each and would take up $650 of my budget. These pedometers could also be used to assess students performance in class. They can be used to give students a target to achieve by the end of class. They could also be used to provide baseline readings that the students must improve upon by the end of a unit. I think these along with the heart rate monitors are useful pieces of equipment that relates directly to the physical fitness aspect of physical education and are extremely helpful in assessment which sometimes gets over looked in the physical education setting.

With the final $400 of my budget I would buy an Optoma Pico Pocket DLP Projector. This could be used to display Power Point presentations, videos, cues, websites, and any other information you would like to easily display to the class.
I really like your choices for your budget. I made two similar purchases with the HRMs and projector. You've gone a good job explaining why you need each item and I can't see a school board turning it down. Maybe just look into a little more variety into the things you purchase is my only suggestion. Maybe some game equipment.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the techonology that you decided to purchase. I think both pedometer and heart rate meters our very important in physical education in todays age. They can be used for both the students benefits along with helping the teacher with assessment. Both perometer and heart rate monitors are becoming much more advance and could be used for many different things. Along with the projector it can be used for many things, and students learn from projection a lot of the time in other classes. It makes sense to use them in the P.E. class as well.
