$2000 for technology

If I was given $2000 to spend on technology for my P.E. class, I would purchase the following:

I would like to buy Beach Body’s P90X Workout Program.

The total cost for this is $140. I once observed a high school physical education class using this system and it seemed to be an effective product for their strength and conditioning class. It will help to work all the muscle groups evenly and by having students view a video, it will be easier to walk around the class and make any form corrections that are necessary. This will enable me to do things that I was unable to do before such as offering a variety of exercise routines. In addition, some of the workouts will initially be “inviting” the students to try their best, and they may not be able to keep up with the leader the entire time. It will really help to push the students even more than before because there are often harder exercises that are optional and really push the learner to continue to challenge themselves.

Next, I would need to buy a DVD player.

It costs about $45. This will be used along with the P90X program to play the DVDs that are a part of the program.

I would also need to purchase a projector.

The cost of this is $560. This will allow the DVDs to be projected on the wall for all the students to see the exercise videos. It will help with my job because if the picture is bigger, students will be able to spread out more rather than being somewhat cramped around a smaller television.

I would then buy 33 Heart rate monitors with the remaining money.

This will help the students to realize how hard they are working with the program in an effort to reach and maintain their target heart rate. These will also be helpful for classes other than a strength and conditioning class to help students exercise intense enough to reap the health benefits. It will help me to monitor their progress in a way that I was unable to before. It is also more accurate and easier than having students take their pulse and recording it during workouts.

  1. I would agree with your spending because everything can be used to make a fun lesson for the students. They can wear the heart rate monitors during any activity they do and they can also wear them while doing the p90x workout to see how hard it is. I would purchase some of the items you have stated above because they can be very useful in teaching students and keeping them active while enjoy physical activity.
