Revised Philosophy Statement

After looking over my original philosophy statement and considering what I have learned in the class in the past few weeks I can't say that I would change it much. I still think that technology can play a small role in the Physical Education setting. However, after doing the emerging technologies assignment I believe that in the future, technology will play an even bigger role in PE. Although I do not plan to pursue a career in Pedagogy I am very curious to see what kind of technologies will be developed for use in that field in the next few decades. At this time though, I just don't see many ways in which I would use technology in the physical education setting, except as a supplementary tool for presenting information, collecting data and doing evaluations. But I think that those tools are more for the teacher and I would rather see the technology benefit the students health and activity level in a more direct way. Which is why I mentioned incorporating video games, like the WiiFit and Dance, Dance Revolution in PE in my initial philosophy statement.

  1. I too believed that really only video games and heart rate monitors were the way to go early in semester. After taking this class I'm with you. It will be quite interesting to see exactly what happens to the field in the future!
