Online Physical Education

I think online physical education is a really bad idea for students below college level. In elementary school, middle school, and high school the goal of physical education should be to get kids to be active. During class students should be performing physical activity for at least half of the time. Online physical education will give the students the information they need. It can teach them about the benefits of being active, or teach them the rules of sports they would play in a normal PE class, or possibly teach them about nutrition, however, just because they have the information does not mean they are actually being active. I think it is extremely important for young kids to be in a class that forces them to be physically active, because at home most kids are watching tv and playing video games.

Online physical education classes could be beneficial for college students. They could be based on different ways of working out, and focus on nutrition. This could be beneficial because over the age of eighteen people either live an active lifestyle or they don't. An online physical education class might help those people with the active lifestyle learn more about effective workouts and ways to eat healthier. I think the only way a physical education class will be good thing is if the student is already active. Beyond this, a physical education class is pointless.
