Online physical education does not make much sense to me. I cannot imagine seeing the day that physical education could be done in someone’s home without a teacher there. It is hard enough for college students to stay on top of other online course, and to have 10 or even 16 year olds teach themselves skills like throwing, shooting, hitting, seems very difficult. I do feel that there could be a good use for it in a hybrid class. Maybe have the quiz and test online for the students. It could help the class be more Green. Also it makes grading easier, and what I feel is the most important thing is it would cut down on the waste of class time.
I do not know too much about the topic, but I just question the liability of the idea. I remember going into cross country season, my coach give me a workout packet to run because I was not going to go to morning practice over the summer. Of course I did very little to none of the workout, making me much more out of shape than the teammates that went to practice over the summer. I bring this up because I feel it is hard for most people to get a good workout in and get better at something by themselves. If someone looked at the online students scores and fittest test compared to the students that attend class every day, they would probably see the difference between the two groups. Students need that immediate feedback to really understand how to perform the task better. Personally, one of the biggest reasons I want to teach is to have that interaction with students and faculty. It would be lost a lot if it was to be taught online.
